Introducing CRO for Amazon Sellers: Turn more shoppers into buyers and outsell your competitors
That’s exactly what conversion rate optimization (CRO) does. For years, we’ve optimized Amazon listings for clients alongside their websites, using research and testing methods we’ve refined over two decades. Now, for the first time, we’re offering it as a standalone, done-for-you service built specifically for Amazon sellers.
Why it’s so hard to grow on Amazon
Most sellers hit two walls.
Testing is slow. Amazon’s own experiment tool can take two to three months to reach a result—longer if the change is small. At that pace, you might learn four to six things a year. Your competitors are learning at the same pace, so nobody pulls ahead.
Amazon owns your customers. On your own website, you can survey visitors, interview buyers, and watch how people behave. On Amazon, the customer relationship belongs to Amazon. It’s hard to find out what your shoppers like, what they dislike, and what nearly stopped them from buying.
That second wall matters more than most sellers realize, because without detailed customer feedback it’s very hard to know what to change. The best tests aren’t guesses; they’re answers to the specific objections that stop people from buying. If you can’t hear those objections, you’re left testing hunches—slowly.
How to beat your competitors on Amazon
We get around both walls by running research and testing side by side. Each feeds the other, so every week you learn more about your customers and have more evidence about what sells.
If you want to be twice as profitable as your competitors, you don’t have to be twice as good as them. You just have to be slightly better. For our clients, these fast feedback loops create those slight edges over the competition.
And… in a marketplace as crowded as Amazon, a series of slight edges is exactly what you need to outrank competitors and multiply sales.
We create slight edges (and rapid growth) by combining activities that continually reinforce one another.

Research and analysis: What stops people from buying
We dig into why shoppers choose your product, why they choose a competitor’s, and what nearly stops them from buying.
Amazon won’t introduce you to your customers, so we go and find them ourselves. We reach people who have bought from you directly, such as through your own website or email list. And we recruit shoppers who have bought products like yours on Amazon—from you or from your competitors. That gives us the customer insight Amazon keeps to itself.
Depending on your business, our team leverages over 30 research modules, including:
- Talking to your customers. We survey and interview your buyers to learn what they needed, what worried them, and what convinced them.
- Analyzing reviews. We study the reviews of your products and your competitors’ to find recurring complaints, doubts, and reasons for buying.
- Studying your competitors. We look at how your rivals position themselves and where they’re weak.
- Buying like a customer. We go through the whole purchase ourselves, from search to delivery, to spot what puts people off.
- Talking to your team. Your customer service and sales staff hear objections every day. We learn what they hear and how they respond.
- Understanding value and price. We find out how shoppers judge whether your product is worth the money.
The outputs aren’t vague findings or “best practices” that could apply to anyone. They are specific objections, such as “shoppers aren’t convinced this stand will hold a heavy laptop.” A specific objection can be answered.
Testing: See what works in days, not months
Instead of waiting months for Amazon’s tool, we test outside Amazon. To do that, we recruit shoppers who match your target customers and show them realistic versions of your listing—different images, titles, bullet points, and prices.
Each test gives us two types of answers. The quantitative answer tells us which version wins. The qualitative answer—often the more valuable one—tells us why. We learn what convinced shoppers, what put them off, and what they still doubted. Those reasons feed straight back into our research and shape the future tests.
This approach typically delivers answers in two weeks or less, far faster than competitors who test via Amazon’s tools, which often take two to three months.
Why running research and testing together works so well
As you can see, each activity makes the others stronger:
- Research tells us what to test, so we don’t waste time on hunches.
- Each test reveals something new about your customers, which sharpens the research.
- Because testing is fast, we can follow a promising lead immediately instead of parking it for a quarter.
When a change proves itself, we put it live on Amazon. Validating it with Amazon’s own testing tool is an option, too, but in most cases we’d recommend going live and moving on to the next-biggest opportunity.
Built on a proven method
This isn’t a new, untested process. Optimizing Amazon listings has been part of our work for years, for clients who sell both on their own websites and on Amazon. What’s new is that you can now hire us for Amazon alone.
The method is the same one we’ve used for 20 years to generate hundreds of millions of dollars in sales for our clients.
Our team also has direct experience working on Amazon businesses, including:
- Managing 7‑figure Amazon sellers.
- Growing one store’s recurring monthly revenue by $150,000 in just three months.
- Helping 5X the sales of one seller over the course of a year.
And this method works whether Amazon is your only sales channel or one of several. If you also have your own website or run ads elsewhere, we’ll use what we learn to improve those too.
