“I’m Michael Speight, the co-founder of Glimp. We are an online lead-generation business based in New Zealand. We started the company in 2015. We launched in 2016 with not a lot of money—$10 a day for marketing at the time. And we’ve been growing ever since.

“Conversion rate is massively important for us. When we bring customers in, it costs us dollars. And if we don’t convert those customers, then that’s money that we’ve left on the table. So when you’ve got a number of visitors on your website, you’ve actually got control over what they can do to a certain extent. Being able to convert more of those means that you’ve got to spend less marketing dollars bringing them through the door, which means more profit on the way out.

“Before we used CRE, we were using our own techniques, which was…assumptions. It wasn’t data-driven. It was just on a whim. We thought, let’s put this in this place—we think it’s going to do something—but we didn’t know if it did or not. We were looking for significant investment to try to get the results that we wanted.

“We’d done the research, and we looked at who were the market leaders and who were driving results. We put a shortlist together, but then when we drilled down, it was something that was a no-brainer. So rather than go halfway, we thought we’d go for the people who started the whole industry—and who’ve worked with the likes of Facebook and Amazon. We knew we were in safe hands if we were to work with CRE.

“We had a few concerns. One was if we were going to get a return on investment, which we certainly have, and also, it was how they were going to run the project. But within the first couple of weeks, we were rest assured of the proactiveness of how they communicated with us. And that held our hand and took us right through the entire journey.

“The best aspects for me —and the most surprising— was the way that they understand your business from the ground up. I had no expectations that they would dive so deep to get the core understanding of what we did. That gave them an immense understanding of how to roll out tests and what to test. It was the attention to detail that was the most impressive part.
